Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Valora collects when you use the mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Valora is a personal budgeting app — you enter your own financial information by hand, and we never connect to your bank or move money on your behalf.
Overview
Valora Budgeting ("Valora", "we", "us") is a mobile app that helps you organize budgets, recurring payments, cards, loans, expenses, reminders, notes, and other everyday personal finances. This policy covers the Valora mobile app and the backend that powers it. It also covers this page's own domain, app.valorabudgeting.com — see "About this page" below for why that domain exists separately.
By creating an account or using Valora, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), or your Google/Apple account identifier if you sign in that way.
- Profile: an optional profile photo, and preferences like language, theme, and secondary currency.
- Financial records you create: cards, recurring services, loans, expenses, budgets and categories, reminders, notes, provision lists, saved places, and the payments/movements derived from them. This data is what you type in — Valora doesn't read it from your bank.
- Community activity: posts, comments, likes, shares, and reports you submit, along with the country you associate with them.
- Sharing and invitations: items you share with other users, and the email addresses of people you invite.
- Support and suggestions: the content of support tickets and suggestion messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, crash reports and performance traces) collected through Sentry so we can find and fix bugs.
- A push-notification token, so we can deliver reminders and alerts to your device.
- Basic online/last-active status.
Information from third parties
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, they share the basic profile information you authorize (typically your name and email) so we can create your account.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the core features of the app: tracking your budget, payments, cards, loans, and expenses, and calculating things like budget progress or a card's connected balance.
- Send reminders, push notifications, and transactional emails (like invitations, verification codes, or password resets) through our email provider, Resend.
- Show and moderate community content, and let you share items or invite people to Valora.
- Respond to support tickets and suggestions.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents — for example, through two-factor authentication and login activity.
- Diagnose crashes and performance issues through Sentry, and improve the app over time.
- Set sensible defaults, like your default currency, based on the country you provide.
We don't use your data to serve third-party ads, and we don't sell your personal information.
Location Data
If you turn on proximity alerts for a saved place, Valora asks for permission to access your device's location — including, if you grant it, in the background — so it can notify you when you're near that place. Location is used only for this feature. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time from your device settings, and the app will keep working normally without it.
Community Content
Posts, comments, and other content you share in Valora's community areas are visible to other users of the app, together with the country you associate with them. Don't post anything there that you wouldn't want to be seen by other members. You can report content you find inappropriate, and our team reviews reports through the moderation tools described in this policy.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so the app can keep working the way you expect. If you delete your account from Settings, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except for information we're required to keep longer for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and update most of your information directly in the app (profile, preferences, financial records).
- Delete your account at any time from Settings → Account & Security, which removes your personal data as described above.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct, restrict, or delete information we hold about you, from Settings → Support inside the app.
- Withdraw permissions you've granted (like location) at any time from your device settings.
- If you're in a country with a data protection authority (for example, under the GDPR), lodge a complaint with that authority.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text, connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS), sensitive data on your device is stored in the OS-level secure store, and you can add two-factor authentication and device biometrics for extra protection. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information protected.
Children's Privacy
Valora is not directed at children, and you must be at least 16 years old — or the minimum age required to consent to data processing in your country, if higher — to create an account. We don't knowingly collect information from children below that age; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
International Users
Valora is used by people around the world and supports any currency. Because of that, your information may be processed in a country other than the one you live in, which may have different data protection laws. Wherever we process your data, we apply the protections described in this policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Valora evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.

About This Page
This document lives at app.valorabudgeting.com, a small static site whose main job is making the links in Valora's emails (like invitations) open correctly when you don't have the app installed yet. This particular page — the one you're reading — has no forms, cookies, analytics, or trackers of its own; everything described above is about the Valora app and backend, not about this static page.
